CINCINNATI ENQUIRER ORDERS WASTE HANDLING
SYSTEM FROM QUIPP
Miami,
FL, October 23, 2002 – Quipp announced today an order
for a Waste Handling System at the Cincinnati (OH) Enquirer, a Gannett
facility.
Quipp will install an Overhead Waste Belt Conveyor
System that will transport start-up newspaper waste as it is dropped
from any of the four existing press gripper conveyors or any of
the four existing Quipp Twin-Trak press belt conveyors. The waste
(or start-up spoils) will travel through belt conveyors and into
containers, which will each handle up to 20 tons of newsprint. The
full container will then be taken to a recycling facility by an
independent contractor, where the spoils will be emptied, the container
returned, and the process is then repeated.
Also included in this turnkey waste system from
Quipp will be: a PLC based Controls Package and Monitoring System,
a Hydraulic Cart Lift Dumper, and local waste dump controls located
in the press room.
The Cincinnati Enquirer production facility already
houses a vast array of Quipp equipment, including several 300, 350,
and 400 Series Stackers, Viper Bottom Wrappers, a complete Bundle
Distribution Tracking System made up of rollerslat and mattetop
conveyors, and five (5) Automated Cart Loaders. The Enquirer has
been a satisfied Quipp customer since 1985.
