SECOND GENERATION CART LOADER INTRODUCED

Miami, FL, April 12, 2002 - QUIPP Systems Incorporated of Miami, Florida, a leading supplier of post-press equipment and systems to the newspaper industry, introduces a new and dramatically improved Automatic Cart Loader for use in the demanding packaging room situation of newspaper production facilities.

The new Series 8552 Loader is a more versatile and capable version of the earlier QUIPP 8551 Series machine of which over 27 are presently in operation. With an increased capacity now approximately 40 bundles per minute, the 8552 was designed to handle newspaper products produced from 50 inch webs.

Cart loading rate depends upon bundle size involved, which dictates the bundle quantity per cart. However, using the standard QUIPP-Cart supplied with the Cart Loader, production rates can range from:

- Up to 100 carts per hour - each holding 24 bundles of 100 - 24 page products.
- Up to 125 carts per hour - each holding 16 bundles of 25 - 144 page products.

Up to 15 carts can be moved onto the optional cart supply conveyors to reduce the need for immediate or frequent attention to supplying empty carts.

Controlled by an integral PC/PLC, the Cart Loader utilizes motor-driven components and pneumatically actuated devices.

A choice of peripheral bundle supply and conditioning conveyors assure a consistent delivery of correctly aligned and spaced bundles. The QUIPP 4172 BOD (Bundle Orienting Device) corrects any supply of mis-aligned and/or incorrectly turned bundles while the QUIPP 4152 Accumulating Conveyor paces and can accumulate and buffer bundles upstream of the Cart Loader.

Quipp, through its subsidiary, Quipp Systems, designs, manufactures and installs material handling systems to facilitate the automated bundling and movement of newspapers from the printing press to the delivery truck. Products include conveyors, stackers, bottomwrappers, floor equipment, palletizers, cart loaders and computer-based controls systems, as required.
