This system, comprising of hardware and off-the-shelf and applications software, monitors the delivery of bundled newspapers to the shipping dock and controls the movement of the bundled newspapers to insure that the proper number of newspapers are supplied to various delivery points.

Once newspapers are in bundles, some may be routed onto trucks while others
go onto carts, and others get palletized. Getting each bundle to the right destination is managed as part of the Bundle Distribution System. The BDS provides greater flexibility in controlling mailroom operations and the flow of bundles throughout. The BDS is a software management process for controlling conveyors with multiple input and output points, all computer controlled.

The Quipp Bundle Distribution System brings great flexibility to packaging center operations. The custom array of conveyors with multiple input and output points is computer controlled, making it easy to adapt the BDS to any situation. The control system locates a space on the BDS conveyor and instructs the Induction Station to insert the waiting bundle. Various sensors are used to monitor the movement of bundles along the BDS, from stacker lines to the final destination. When a bundle arrives at its assigned exit point, a Quipp automatic high-speed pusher, or a deflector, diverts the bundle onto the input conveyor for the truck loader, cart
loader, or a palletizer system.
